CONCUSSION BASELINE TESTING
Your Defense Against a Concussion is CommunityMed!
CommunityMed Urgent Care and Family Care is proud to offer Concussion Baseline Testing at our clinics through ImPACT Applications. Our tests are offered for youth ages 12-18 and takes less than 30 minutes! The ImPACT neurocognitive test is a computer-based program for assessing neurocognitive function and concussion symptoms and is the most widely used computerized testing program in the sports setting.
Prior to any injury, a baseline test will be set up by appointment at your local CommunityMed Urgent Care Clinic. Should a threat of concussion take place for your youth, a post-injury test will take place within two days of injury to determine the best course of assessment for the injury.
The testing takes less than 30 minutes, but could save crucial time acting upon your youth’s health when it comes to concussion injury.
Who Should Take an ImPACT Concussion Baseline Test?
CommunityMed Urgent Care provides baseline testing by appointment for all youth ages 12-18. The test is great for:
- Student Athletes in High School Sports
- Youth that Participate in Martial Arts
- Physically Active Youth
Whether your pre-teen or teenager participates in horseback riding, karate, high school football, soccer, volleyball, basketball, baseball, softball, gymnastics, hockey, skateboarding or other similar sports, the ImPACT baseline testing is a priceless investment to ensure that you are on top of the health and safety of your youth.
What is ImPACT?
ImPACT is a computerized neurocognitive assessment tool to help licensed healthcare providers evaluate and manage a suspected concussion. ImPACT is the industry leader in concussion management and trusted by teams and organizations around the world.
ImPACT comes in two forms:
- Baseline Test – Administered by a licensed healthcare provider or a trained baseline administrator before the start of a sport season, school year, or other activity. Baseline scores are collected and stored on our privacy compliant servers. ImPACT Applications recommends re-administering the baseline test annually in accordance with CDC guidelines.
- Post-Injury Test – Administered by a licensed healthcare provider when a concussion is suspected. Test results are compared to baseline scores and normative data scores as part of a healthcare provider’s assessment of the injury. Multiple post injury tests may be given to an individual during the course of treatment and rehabilitation.
