Frequently Asked
Questions

Urgent care provides quick, convenient and less expensive healthcare for acute  conditions that are not immediately life-threatening. Urgent care clinics treat things like asthma, allergies, cuts, broken bones, infections, viruses like the flu and more.

Wait times vary but usually patients spend no longer than an hour in the clinic, including wait time. We encourage patients to check in online and provide the necessary information electronically to reduce or eliminate wait time entirely.

Not at all. We welcome walk-ins, but encourage you to get in line by checking in online and completing the paperwork before you leave for the clinic. This can minimize your wait time and sometimes make it disappear altogether.

There’s a good chance we do, as we are in network with plans from most major insurers, as well as Medicare and Tricare. To find out, the best thing to do is to call the number on the back of your insurance card. Be sure to ask if we are considered “in network” as well. The co-pay may change based on whether we are in network or out of network.

The whole staff is amazing!! Extremely friendly and personable. Brittnee has wonderful bed side manners and made sure I understood everything before I left. I truly felt cared for.

The patient care from the front desk to the PA/NP/MD is exceptional. I have had to come twice in the last 4 months and both visits went perfectly--could not offer one complaint. Thank you!!

Went to Community Med in Haslet on Sunday with an appointment at noon. I completed the online check-in ahead of time and was called into the clinic within about 5 minutes of notifying them of my arrival. I spent about 10 minutes in the waiting room prior to being called back. The med tech was great, and thorough, and gentle with completing a strep test. I saw NP Armstrong and she was awesome, incredibly helpful. I received my first dose of meds at the clinic and my prescription called into my pharmacy. Having that first dose made a huge difference in my symptoms within a few hours. I’d highly recommend this urgent care and will absolutely come back if needed.

I'd say, my experience it’s been ok, and ok mostly because of the attention I received from the nurses and the Dr., they were very kind and personal so no complains against them. But the front desk in the other hand, very very poor judgment, lack of attention and consideration for patients. So I had my IOD follow up appointment scheduled at 12noon, I followed the instructions in the parking lot signs, scanned the QR code, received a check in confirmation stating “we will call you when it’s your turn”… after over 30mins of waiting outside, along with a couple other vehicles, I called to check on how much longer the wait it would be because I’ve been waiting since 12 o’clock (considering it’s Sunday and they actually OPEN at noon), the front desk lady who answered said “oh yeah our system is down so can’t see anything that you guys are doing, just come back at 1 and walk in.” — I was like “ok…. wow, well I’ve been here since 12 o’clock waiting, maybe you guys should come outside and let these other vehicles know” and she said, “oh yeah, some have called and I told them the system is down so just come back at 1”. - That’s it.Unbelievable.At 1pm I walked in, checked in again, and as I continued to wait inside @1:11pm she finally comes out with printed signs that she made and started taping them on all the QR code outside in the parking lot. Something they should’ve done at 12noon when they “couldn’t” open for business due to the system being down or AT LEAST to come outside and to let us know so that we’re all not wasting our time waiting outside thinking “oh we’re in the queue”.I’m writing this, not with intentions of getting anyone in trouble, but instead for whoever is responsible to receive the coaching necessary so that they work more proactively next time in situations like this in order to prevent future sour experiences like mine.UPDATE!!! 10/19/2024It was a wonderful experience over all. The young lady in the front desk, even though I left a review about my experience with her that one day, never changed negatively towards me, all the way around, she became more cordial and personal changing completely that sour taste, so I commend her for that very much. The staff overall, OUTSTANDING, specifically Tasha - thank you for taking care of me.Highly recommended.

Quick in and out! Jamie talked out some of the issues I was experiencing while I was traveling and diagnosed me with the flu within an hour and had prescriptions sent out shortly after as well. Overall, it was a great and punctual experience.

Highly recommend. Thank God for Community Med in Haslet! It’s for the real world. We don’t get sick Monday-Friday between 9-5, some shift down at noon on Fridays. Must be nice. But not realistic anymore. But it’s not just that, everyone was absolutely wonderful. They were friendly, but professional. They were wonderful and I didn’t feel rushed. Thank you!

I always have the best service at this location. The nurses and Doctors are always friendly. I appreciate that the most when I'm already not feeling well. They always listen to what I'm saying and not just brushing it off. So in all, it's worth the travel to keep going back to this location.

On my third day in Texas, I found that I needed to see an urgent care doctor. The Community Med Family Urgent Care online appointment system seemed to work fine. We arrived 30 minutes early however the receptionist was extremely helpful in setting our expectations. She informed us that they were super busy so it was going to take a while. Even though we ended up waiting an hour over our scheduled appointment time, the receptionist, technician and doctor were all exceptionally professional and kind. I will go here again if needed and highly recommend them.

Very good care. Had trouble getting registered on line. Could not get past the insurance part. Called in and they said to come on into the office . Very helpful otherwise.

3 stars for the wait time. Otherwise I would give 5 stars for the staff/medical care after the long wait. The way they book appts isn't ideal for busy schedules that everyone has: I was told they block 3 people for every 1 hr slot. I am checked in 15 mins before my time slot to allow time for paper work etc but wasn't called for another 45 mins. They handed paper work(thankfully it's 1 page document). Waited another 10 mins to be called back. Once in the back, it was about 10 mins to be seen by the NP. The NP reviewed my results and then sent my prescription over.I would use them again but I won't schedule on a day I am working. Best to prepare and it would probably decrease anxiety if they communicated what is expected

Usually have a 5-star visit. This visit was a little different. I was seen by a team I have never seen before and not sure if it’s just the way that they operate that is different from my other visits. But , the most important concern of mine is that I called in to ask if another RX could be called in for my symptoms since Tricare wouldn't cover it and it would be a long (business days) waiting period to see if they would approve or not and never heard back from the office like they said they would. This just caused a major issue and having a headache at the pharmacy on top of not feeling my usual self. I do appreciate the location of the urgent care and the way I have been helped in the past. This time just felt different. I understand that Tricare is not the easiest to work with but I would have appreciated a call back to let me know there were no other options (or over the counter options to help).

I recently visited this urgent care and wanted to share my experience. While everyone I encountered was polite and professional, there were aspects of the visit that left me dissatisfied. The appointment process was smooth, and I was seen promptly at my scheduled time. The nurse I interacted with was courteous and thorough, asking about my symptoms and suggesting tests for COVID and the flu. I declined these tests since I was only experiencing sinus congestion and didn’t feel particularly unwell. This part of the visit was handled professionally and met my expectations. However, the interaction with the provider was where things took a disappointing turn. After introducing herself as the provider, though she never actually mentioned her name, she asked me, "What do you need?" I was caught off guard by this question. In my view, as a patient, I expect to explain my symptoms and then rely on the provider’s expertise to recommend a diagnosis and treatment plan. Instead, I felt as though I was being asked to self-diagnose and determine my own course of care. That said, I do want to acknowledge that the provider did perform the normal checks, including examining my ears, heart, and lungs. I don’t want to leave the impression that she simply asked, "What do you need?" and did nothing else. However, the overall approach still left me feeling unsupported and diminished my confidence in the care provided. While the staff’s politeness and professionalism were commendable, the bedside manner and overall experience fell short of my expectations. As a result, I do not plan to return to this urgent care. I value providers who take an active role in guiding their patients’ care and offer informed recommendations rather than deferring to the patient to dictate the process.

My husband made an appointment this morning for 3:30 this afternoon. After checking in he was still waiting in his car 2 hours after set appointment. Every time he went in to check on how much longer it would be the lady behind the sliding window would roll her eyes at him and huff like patients are a big inconvenience. He likely has pneumonia and left without being seen. Pathetic customer service in reception. When he walked in to say he was leaving not a word of we are sorry for your wait or anything just… ok bye. How would she feel if that’s how she were treated if she was ill. Sad.

By far the worst urgent care experience we have ever had! Went on line and made an appointment for 6-6:30 so my sick daughter didn’t have to wait too long to be seen. We have been here for over an hour and still have not been seen! It’s my understanding that you all are scheduling too many people in a time slot. Something needs to be done about your procedures so sick patients do not have to wait so long.

Woman who answered was extremely rude! She stated she answered when clinic is busy. What a wonderful experience while being sick. The hold music is extremely loud and obnoxious while anyone is sick and I personally hate calling for that reason.

Absolutely no sense of urgency. Waited 2 hours just to be seen when they weren’t even busy. No convenience at all wasted a lot of time there.

2nd time I have tried to come here. First time I scheduled an appointment and waited in the car for over an hour before I had to leave. Currently sitting in the parking lot checked in waiting for my 7:00 appointment. It’s 7:50 and they close at 8:00. They haven’t called and every time I call they answer then hang up the phone. Beyond frustrating

Scheduled an appointment online and still had to wait for an 1hr to get in. Why do they appointments then?? Also, they make you fill out the same forms 4 times!! First in their website, one more time when uploading ID and insurance via text message, third time when checking in at the parking lot, and the forth time in paper at the front desk!!Update: I ended up leaving after 1:30hr wait!!! Asked for refund and couldn't be done at the time. More wait. DON'T COME TO THIS PLACE FOR URGENT CARE. I'll not recommend to anyone.

I went in today to be seen for cuts I got when I fell a week ago. They have drainage and hurt soooo badly. I mean level 10 bad. I never like going to the doctor but everyone I know was telling me to go in. I am shaking from how much agony I feel. With the increase in severe pain day by day, the swelling some of my wounds have, the redness around one of my wounds, and the coloring of each wounds liquid coming out, I thought okay this may be infected. So the nurse I got was straight up rude to me. In my time of extreme pain and need, you’d figure a nurse would be kind.. The nurse told me to show him my wounds. I took the bandages off slowly because it hurts soooo much to take off. One on my leg was sticking to the bandage and I couldn’t get it off. He took some water and sprayed it really quick and yanked it off. He literally took skin off with it. So now I’m in even worse shape than I was before from another layer of skin ripped off of an already painful wound. Then, he was taking my blood pressure and I realized I forgot to show him a wound on my finger that I had bandaged. I was trembling in pain and tried to take the bandage off and he told me to stop because that was affecting the machine. I said I was sorry and then he made a comment about how he can’t believe how my generation can’t even understand how to get blood pressure taken. Later on after he is gunna put more bandages on my wounds, I asked him how do we know those won’t stick too? Because I was petrified by this point. He said in a freaking rude way “Because they’re non stick, that’s why they say non stick” and rolled his eyes like I was freaking stupid. I told him the ones I was using were non adhesive (I bought them literally because that’s what they are). He said “obviously not” in another rude manner! I was so mad by this point I wanted to walk out right there. I don’t know why I didn’t honestly. I literally cried on my way home because of everything going on, especially how I was treated. I get home about 15 minutes later and take the bandages off so the wounds could breathe, like I was told. Two of them WERE ALREADY STUCK TO THE WOUNDS!!! Then I looked at the bandages I have, and they’re the SAME ONES THEY HAVE!! I am in so much pain right now, with a now fresh wound on top of the pain I’m already in. I’m so mad it’s insane. No one should be talked to by a nurse like the way I was today. Safe to say I’m spreading the word at my job, with family, with friends, and whoever else I hear even thinks about going here. The receptionist on the other hand was an absolutely kind person. I did not feel like the doctor nor the nurse even cared about me or took anything I said seriously. Horrible experience doesn’t even begin to describe what I went through today. I paid $200 to be talked down to. Wish I never went at all, waste of time and money.

Only giving A 1 star because the lady at the reception was nice. I made an appointment to be seen from 10-1030 am Monday morning. I had PRK a few years ago and suffer from chronic dry eyes. I am currently on emergency leave . I woke up and scratched my cornea ( which has happened before ). So I went to urgent care and informed her of my symptoms and what it may be . First and foremost DR. Weaver, came in wearing a bunch of jewelry, and Hey dudes. She put dye in my eye and said there was no scratches and Chalked it up to being a ‘ irritated eye’. She sent me off with over the counter eye lube. The lube she prescribed me is no longer being made. Hours later my eye continued to ache and swell more. I went to the ER room , my eye was swollen shut and I couldn’t see anything. They told me I had a cornea abrasion , and now had an infection in both eyes due to how long this went untreated . The DR at the emergency room stated that if I went any longer I could have had permanent damage to my vision.I have indeed reported her to the Texas Medical Board. As this is super unprofessional, highly dangerous not just for me but for any other possible patient they give care to.

I normally don't post negative reviews but the nurse practitioner or "nurse Skylar L." that saw me today was very rude and inconsiderate. I had to tell her to take my blood pressure as she took no vitals. I basically paid for my co-pay that's not cheap only for her to tell me they are unable to help me. She could have said that to begin with since it was indicated on the form, they have you fill out "reason for visit" it was clearly specified as to why I was there. I literally was in and out, like I was wasting her time and her not wanting to see me. Not a good experience for my first visit and definitely will not be returning due to her.

My experience at Community Med was extremely disappointing and frustrating. Despite having an appointment, the service I received was shockingly rude and unprofessional.Upon arrival, I approached the front desk where I was met with an attitude that bordered on outright hostility. The receptionist, seemed visibly annoyed at having to assist me, and her demeanor suggested she would rather be anywhere else but helping patients. She abruptly walked away in what appeared to be a tantrum, leaving me standing there feeling completely disregarded and disrespected. As someone who works in the medical field myself, I was appalled by her behavior. It's unacceptable for anyone, especially in healthcare, to treat patients with such disdain. Patients visit urgent care facilities seeking medical attention and care, not to be treated as inconveniences.I strongly advise management at community med to address the customer service issues they clearly have. Patients deserve to be treated with respect and professionalism, regardless of the circumstances. The experience I had reflects poorly on the entire establishment and raises serious concerns about the quality of care provided. In conclusion, based on my encounter, I cannot recommend community med to anyone seeking compassionate and respectful medical care. The individual I encountered should reconsider her suitability for a role in healthcare where empathy and customer service are paramount.
