Frequently Asked
Questions

Urgent care is a medical service that provides immediate care for non-life-threatening injuries and illnesses that require prompt attention but do not warrant a trip to the emergency room. You should visit an urgent care center when you have conditions such as minor fractures, cuts needing stitches, flu symptoms, urinary tract infections, or other ailments that need medical attention but are not emergencies. Urgent care is an excellent option for situations when your primary care physician is unavailable, and you need timely treatment.

Urgent care clinics offer a broad range of services, including treatment for common illnesses like colds and flu, minor injuries such as sprains and strains, diagnostic services like X-rays and lab testing, vaccinations, and physical exams. At CommunityMed Family Urgent Care, we also provide specialized services like COVID testing and treatment, DOT physicals, STD testing, and more. Our goal is to provide comprehensive healthcare services that are convenient and accessible to you when you need them.

No, you don’t need an appointment at CommunityMed Urgent Care. We offer walk-in services, allowing you to receive prompt care without the need for prior scheduling. Our flexible hours make it convenient for you to seek medical attention whenever it’s necessary. However, if you prefer to schedule an appointment to minimize wait times, you can do so through our website or by calling our clinic.

Urgent care centers are designed to address immediate healthcare needs on a walk-in basis, without the need for an appointment. Primary care physicians, on the other hand, provide ongoing, comprehensive care, including preventive services, managing chronic conditions, and addressing long-term health needs. While urgent care centers can provide many of the same services, they do not replace the need for a primary care physician. We recommend having a primary care physician for regular check-ups and to oversee your overall healthcare, while urgent care is there for unexpected or urgent health issues.

Customer Reviews - Prosper

I came into town to visit my sister. I’m a breastfeeding mom and struggling with mastitis and needed relief. I just have to say the time they got me in, seen, and out was 15 mins maybe 20 mins top. That is the fastest it has ever taken me to see a doctor! Which is what I needed that day. The staff was friendly as well!

I have been cared for by Community Med in Prosper for several years, and I still feel that they are the best Urgent Care anywhere! I have needed their expertise for a variety of ailments, and every single time they get me in quickly & have treated my needs perfectly. I will add that not only are they Medical Professionals, but I have never experienced anything but kindness, caring, & respect from each one. My appointment this morning was the same. From the friendly greeting of Kaitlynn the Receptionist, to Sophia the Med Tech who was so kind & made me feel so comfortable, to Dr.”Nef” who could not have been any more kind, caring, or efficient! Once again they worked their “magic” & 6 hours later I’m already feeling better! Needless to say, I highly recommend this valuable Facility and it’s valuable Staff!

“Had an excellent experience at this urgent care center! The staff was incredibly attentive, efficient, and compassionate from the moment I walked in. The wait time was minimal, and the medical team took the time to listen to my concerns and provide thorough care. The facility was clean, well-organized, and I felt genuinely cared for throughout the visit. Highly recommend for anyone in need of quick, quality care!”

Our son needed to get an ingrown toenail cut out. He was nervous, but the doc was awesome. Super personable, very engaged, and reassuring. Talked to him about preventative measures for the future.Overall, super smooth experience. Wait time was short, admin piece was a breeze. We’ll use this place for future issues!

The providers (Saul and MA) were amazing, so friendly and answered all of my questions and they were pretty quick. They really know what they’re doing. As a side note, if there was a worst receptionist competition, Anija would win hands down. No eye contact, no communication on entry, didn’t look up from her work, condescending— she has it all! She totally killed our good mood when we came in. Don’t let her horrible attitude deter you from coming here though, everyone else is awesome.

Shout out to NP Jacqueline! I’ve been to this location a few times and I’ve always received good care. The biggest hangup is that even if you make an appointment you can expect to wait 30-60 min past your appt time before you’re actually seen. This last time I stopped in and was surprised by how helpful, funny and caring the NP was. Addressed my issues but gave me solid options.

I cannot tell you how nice it was. I scheduled the appointment the night before. The online check-in was very easy. The nurse practitioner I saw was very kind. Going to a doctor is never fun, but they made the experience calming. I highly recommend them.

The front desk lady was kind and friendly. The Med Tech was thorough and efficient. She wanted to be sure she had all of my medical history before she did anything else. The doctor was sympathetic and personable. She seemed knowledgeable, checked me, and sent me home with prescription to pick up. If I wasn’t sick, I would say it was a pleasurable experience.

Pleasant front desk person, efficient and caring medical staff. There's no wasting of time too, I went in for an X-ray for my 7yo as she sustained an injury from tumbling. We got in and out of there in less than an hour! Love this place!! Highly recommend!

The providers and nurses are excellent, caring and do their best to take care of patients. The new system used to register, check in, process billing has multiple bugs ,leading to patient unable to check in,unable to verify insurance... apparently this system got a long way to improve

Normally they are great. Today was terrible, had an appointment, filled out everything online, uploaded insurance cards & drivers. Got there they asked for all of it again. The pre opp call while in the parking lot was pointless because once the provider came in she obviously didn’t listen to any of it she said she would call in cough meds, even though we said there was no cough, she asked what the fever was, even when we said no fever. It also took over 30 mins to be see even though we were the only ones in the building. 110% sure we were the only ones, I went to check parking lot and saw the provider at the desk when I went out and all doors were open2 stars bc I got a school note, and the lady at the front was kind that was the only saving grace today. Luckily there are a lot of new places popping up in Prosper

The front desk girl was horrible. I made an appointment online and was admittedly a few minutes past the appointment time. I checked in while parked in the lot. I got a notice of receipt and sat for 20 minutes with one other car in the lot. I then got a text telling me that as we had missed our appointment time we would have to wait another 40 minutes. I took my son into the lobby to ask about if the wait time was accurate. The lady at the front desk was very rude and told me yes it was accurate and that they are actually busy. Nobody else was in sight. I pointed out that there was only one car in the lot. She then said that she would check me in, but that if we were late to an appointment again, they would be charging me for it. I have actually been to this location several times and never had any issues, and I pointed out to her that they are in fact, an urgent care office, and if I do not show up on time, they have other patients to see and are not losing their time. I told her that we would take our business elsewhere next time. She was nasty and told me that I was checked in and told us to wait in the waiting room. It was only about five minutes later that the nurse came to take us back. So the wait quoted to us from the front desk Assistant was not correct and she was indeed 30 minutes off. The nurse took us back and there were no other patients back there. It was slower than I have ever seen it. The nurse was nice as was the male NP. My son was having an asthma attack and needed medication. They agreed to call in the medication RX to the Kroger basically right next-door. I had put the pharmacy information on our registration papers as well as given it to the nurse. When we left, we went to Kroger and found out that they had actually sent it to a Kroger in Lake Forest. I find it hard to believe that this was not intentional. And of course, at that point the urgent care was closed for the night. Kroger agreed to give us the prednisone and we got home just to find out that the prescription was for pills instead of liquid. Who prescribes pills for an eight-year-old year-old?? So now we have to wait until tomorrow to get the correct medication. Overall, it a very frustrating experience. And although the nurse and the NP were very kind, I don’t think that I would choose to go back to this location.

INCOMPETENT is a level of service this establishment would be lucky to achieve, so poorly run and mismanaged is this facility. There is nothing urgent about this place. The front desk took 45 MINUTES to get my child registered, complaining about the system being slow, and then they incorrectly entered my information twice. After a painful wait just to get into the system it was another HOUR to be seen, only to be told that the laceration would have to go to an actual ER, and they were unable to perform such a “complicated” suture. I waited TWO HOURS and was charged $109 to be told to basically go away. When I asked if I could get a refund since no services were actually rendered, the administration passed the blame to the insurance and said to take it up with insurance.Do. Not. Go. Here.

Community Med Urgent Care’s motto is that their experienced and friendly staff takes pride in serving the communities. It is THEIR priority that THEY do not sacrifice great patient care and customer service for a speedy visit; THEY strive 110% for all three!THEIR 1ST MOTTO = THAT THEY DO NOT SACRIFICE GREAT PATIENT CARE. We give them 0/5 stars - This is completely false. Their patient care was the worst we have ever experienced compared to many other urgent cares around prosper, Frisco, Celina and McKinney. When the provider, Brittany (if that even was her real name) finally came in after we had been waiting for more than 1 hour, she spent at most 5 mins with us and then said we were done. The tech, Halie spent more time with us than the provider did and she had more patient care than the provider, Brittany gave us. Brittany was cold, unwelcoming and seemed like she could care less about your illness. She didn’t provide us any updates on the results of the tests until we asked about it. And most importantly, Brittany did not provide us with an answer on what our illness was and what the medication she was going to prescribe would help. She clearly was not happy doing her job.2ND MOTTO = THEY DO NOT SACRIFICE GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE FOR A SPEEDY VISIT. We give them another 0/5 stars. Zero for no customer service from the provider, Brittany.3RD MOTTO = A SPEEDY VISIT - ANOTHER 0/5 stars for the long wait. It was NOT a speedy visit like they advertise and that the average wait time + visit time is 30 minutes or less. This is completely FALSE.In conclusion, there are so many urgent cares in North Dallas Texas that actually do get you seen faster, getting you in & out in less time with amazing customer service and staff (including the provider). It’s our fault for wanting to try a different urgent care that was closer to us. We have learned our lesson and will NEVER be taking our business to Any COMMUNITY MED URGENT CARE in NORTH Texas. We will take all our urgent care visits to TEXAS HEALTH BREEZE URGENT CARE. We will not recommend Community Med Urgent Care Prosper to all our friends and family and share with them the unprofessionalism and lack of care we received from them.

Had an appointment for a physical scheduled at 11:30 and we are still sitting in the exam room waiting for someone to come see us at 1:25. There is only one provider on today, but there have been no urgent cases. Still trying to understand why we have waited 2 hours to be seen. This will be the last time we visit this clinic.

I would give them zero stars. I checked in online and waited over an hour in my car waiting for them to call us. They never called and did not give us an estimated timeframe. What a waste of time when you are sick. It’s been over 4 hours and they still have yet to call. It seems like staff didn’t want to patients in at all. There were only two cars in their parking lot and the front desk lady was completely rude.
