Frequently Asked
Questions
What is urgent care?
Often called walk-in clinics, urgent care centers let you get medical care quickly, without waiting days or weeks. Our clinic offers same-day medical care with little to no wait. You can also schedule your appointment online.
Our urgent care clinics in Melissa 121 treat minor ailments such as infections, cuts, sprains, and broken bones. They are also an affordable option, costing less than a visit to the emergency room.
How long is wait time at urgent care clinics?
Usually not too long. Most patients are in and out under an hour, including the time waiting to see a medical provider. However, it could be even less if you secure your spot in line before arriving at the clinic with our online scheduling.
How is urgent care different from emergency room care?
Urgent care clinics handle diseases and conditions that require immediate care but aren’t necessarily life-threatening. Urgent care clinics also offer diagnostic testing for COVID, strep throat, and flu.
Emergency rooms handle potentially life-threatening medical emergencies, including conditions such as heart attacks, seizures or loss of consciousness, overdose, trauma, or severe pain.
Do urgent care clinics accept my insurance?
It’s very likely that we do accept your medical insurance. We accept Medicare, Tricare, and the majority of the major insurance carriers. Call your insurance provider if you have questions to confirm that we are in the network so your co-pay is what you expect it to be. If we are out of network, we can still provide care but your bill will likely be higher than your normal co-pay.

Thank you.
it was worth it. They gave me my time! KUDOS for excellent service all of you!
This is ridiculous!!! I’m in constant pain but a doctor is will not do anything about it?!?? This will be my last time going here. I have referred 6 of my siblings here… if you get this Casey “doctor” go somewhere else!
I intend on disputing this with my insurance as well
Luckily for me, we found a great urgent care for kids in McKinney. We got him in about 20 minutes before they closed, they treated him, gave him 3 staples, a toy and a sucker- we also left about 15 minutes AFTER they closed and NO one made us feel like we were an issue. They were friendly and fun our whole visit- and by the waiting room when we got there, it was a busy night. Hopefully these guys can take some coaching and best practice from this urgent care and be better.
Parents can’t schedule or time an emergency-my advice to anyone is not wasting your time with this clinic if you have kids and/or have an emergency happen within an hour of their closing time because they “leave at 8”
If you have an infant/young children, this is not the place. Stick with your pediatrician.
My wife had a terrible chest pain and our friend who is a PA suggested we go get a EKG before heading to the ER. We came to Community Melissa because Breeze down the street didn't have EKG. The front desk and tech were super nice. However, when we checked in, we heard the provider yelled out "you have got to be kidding me!" then she realized we were standing right there.
When we got in, she said it's better you just go to the ER. We had already paid for the appointment and we said we want to get the EKG first. If everything looks good at least we can take our time or maybe skip ER all together. She refused it several times. and she said she has 5 people waiting for her and we can sense she really just wants us gone. This is something urgent and we feel when you hear a patient complain of all of the symptoms that seems like a heart attack, something needs to be done quickly.
We were extremely polite but we demanded the EKG. She finally gave in and the tech came and did the test and gave us aspirin (standard protocol in case of heart attack). After the test my wife started to look pale and feeling faint. The provider did nothing, didn't even offer to help. We had to ask if it was o,.k for her to lie down. I requested for IV, again it was turned down.
Honestly, if you come in for a flu, just need some Tylenol, this is the place for you. But when we have 5 children scared to death of what will happen to their mother, a husband extremely worried about his wife possibly with a heart attack, this provider did the very minimal to help us. Like most of the negative reviews said, the attitude was bad and she really just wants us out of there.
We will never come back again.
The sign on the front of the building says in very large letters “urgent care”! This lady threw me out to the road in an angry loud voice proudly telling me this is not an ER. With absolutely no compassion or humanity she pointed toward the door and threw me out into the street.. This lady was cold and rude.
If you’re in need of URGENT MEDICAL CARE please avoid this Clinic. You are just going to waste your time. The way that the staff behaves really calls into question the professionalism of the rest of the staff. I still think about this event every day since then, it shook me to my core.
