Frequently Asked
Questions
What is urgent care?
Urgent care centers allow people to receive same-day medical care quickly through online check-ins with little to no wait. They can address minor ailments like viral and bacterial infections, lacerations, sprains and broken bones for less money than a trip to the emergency room.
How long is wait time at urgent care clinics?
The Urgent Care Association of America reports that 92% of patients experience wait times of 30 minutes or less. You can check in online and fill out our paperwork virtually to further reduce your wait time at our clinics.
How is urgent care different from emergency room care?
Texas requires all emergency rooms to operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, while urgent care clinics are allowed to set their own hours. Urgent care visits are less expensive on average and are appropriate if you have an ailment that isn’t immediately life-threatening. It’s best to seek urgent care for broken bones, allergies, cuts, flu and other minor sicknesses. Go to an emergency room if you experience things like trauma, seizures, heart attacks or severe pain.
Do urgent care clinics accept my insurance?
If you are unsure if an urgent care clinic accepts your insurance, confirm with your insurance provider by giving the number on the back of your insurance card a call. Confirm whether your carrier considers the clinic to be in network or out of network. CommunityMed is in network with Tricare, Medicare and plans from most large insurers.

Thanks for everything!
IV fluid bag. I’m so very thankful for them.
Registered online, scanned the QR code when I got there.checked in when I got there. Carlos called and said to come in.
Once I was in they brought me back and took great care of me. Edwin was the provider he listened to me and checked me out.
Professional, respectful, and courteous.
Thank you Community Med.
Ms. Hawkins was great in helping and guided me to other choices to optimize my health.
Thank you.
I would return for care if my PCP was unavailable and I would recommend to others if the same NP and RT were on duty.
I can hear the staff talking about me and laughing. They just checked my vitals, that’s it, but they didn't do much for me initially. After repeatedly expressing my concerns, they finally decided to give me a steroid shot. I have to say, it wasn't the best experience, and I definitely won't be going back there. I basically wasted my co-pay; I should’ve just gone to my primary doctor. It was a total waste of time and money.
If you ever need to visit urgent care, I highly recommend the one in McKinney instead. It felt small and lacking in equipment.
They will charge you twice for one visit and then say they cannot refund your money and it must be your bank’s fault.
I spoke with the clinic and three separate people in their billing department. I emailed proof of (double) payment. Still no help resolving this issue. I was told to try and get the money back by disputing the charge through my bank but that there was nothing they can do, very crooked practices here.
Edit- As soon as I posted a negative review someone called me and miraculously could help! 3 weeks after my appt I received a paper check refund. I paid with card. They could have easily refunded my card the same day but instead chose to send me a paper check that took weeks. And they did nothing until I posted a negative review.
I recently visited the Highway 5 location in Melissa, Texas, due to an urgent matter. As a frequent visitor, I've noticed that the paperwork system has changed, and I find it quite cumbersome. Previously, the process was more streamlined, but now it requires significant manual paperwork both before and after my office visit.
This outdated system is challenging and detracts from the otherwise excellent service provided by your wonderful staff and doctors. I kindly request that you consider revising the paperwork process to enhance efficiency. We truly value this facility for urgent situations.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.

For anyone reading this please go to Anna Integrity Care, took less than 5 minutes to get checked in and the fees for private pay aren’t inflated and you get top notch care with amazing providers and X-ray facilities on site.
I waited for 2 hours and then told me they couldn’t see me til the next day… after 2 hours of waiting???
I’ve waited up to 4 hours to be seen before and they don’t even let you leave and come back.
All staff is crude and makes side remarks throughout your appointments, especially Crystal.
If you’re trying to be seen quick and not spoken to like you’re a peasant, do yourself a favor and skip going here.
