Frequently Asked
Questions
What is urgent care and when should I visit an urgent care center?
Urgent care is a medical service that provides immediate care for non-life-threatening injuries and illnesses that require prompt attention but do not warrant a trip to the emergency room. You should visit an urgent care center when you have conditions such as minor fractures, cuts needing stitches, flu symptoms, urinary tract infections, or other ailments that need medical attention but are not emergencies. Urgent care is an excellent option for situations when your primary care physician is unavailable, and you need timely treatment.
What services can I expect at an urgent care clinic?
Urgent care clinics offer a broad range of services, including treatment for common illnesses like colds and flu, minor injuries such as sprains and strains, diagnostic services like X-rays and lab testing, vaccinations, and physical exams. At CommunityMed Family Urgent Care, we also provide specialized services like COVID testing and treatment, DOT physicals, STD testing, and more. Our goal is to provide comprehensive healthcare services that are convenient and accessible to you when you need them.
Do I need an appointment to visit an urgent care center?
No, you don’t need an appointment at CommunityMed Urgent Care. We offer walk-in services, allowing you to receive prompt care without the need for prior scheduling. Our flexible hours make it convenient for you to seek medical attention whenever it’s necessary. However, if you prefer to schedule an appointment to minimize wait times, you can do so through our website or by calling our clinic.
How do urgent care services differ from the services provided by a primary care physician?
Urgent care centers are designed to address immediate healthcare needs on a walk-in basis, without the need for an appointment. Primary care physicians, on the other hand, provide ongoing, comprehensive care, including preventive services, managing chronic conditions, and addressing long-term health needs. While urgent care centers can provide many of the same services, they do not replace the need for a primary care physician. We recommend having a primary care physician for regular check-ups and to oversee your overall healthcare, while urgent care is there for unexpected or urgent health issues.

Highly recommend!
Overall, super smooth experience. Wait time was short, admin piece was a breeze. We’ll use this place for future issues!
As a side note, if there was a worst receptionist competition, Anija would win hands down. No eye contact, no communication on entry, didn’t look up from her work, condescending— she has it all! She totally killed our good mood when we came in. Don’t let her horrible attitude deter you from coming here though, everyone else is awesome.
This last time I stopped in and was surprised by how helpful, funny and caring the NP was. Addressed my issues but gave me solid options.
The new system used to register, check in, process billing has multiple bugs ,leading to patient unable to check in,unable to verify insurance... apparently this system got a long way to improve
No one was really rude, just rushed to get you in and out. Patient room cleanliness and the extra couple of minutes to look at the patient input for history, meds, etc. prior to walking in the room would go a long way.
2 stars bc I got a school note, and the lady at the front was kind that was the only saving grace today. Luckily there are a lot of new places popping up in Prosper
I was taken to a room where the nurse asked me questions and took my vitals. Again, she was friendly and professional and administered the Covid and Flu tests. As I was waiting for the practitioner to come in, I was reading the banner at the bottom of the tv screen that stated who was working that day. I saw that Robbie was the practitioner and thought I might as well get up and leave. I had her before and she did nothing to help me at my previous appointment and genuinely didn't care about anything I was saying or how I felt. Made me feel stupid for being there.
Still hoping for some relief, I decided to stay, since I was already there and in so much pain. Robbie comes in, asks me some questions and stares into space as I answer. I explained my symptoms, she stated my tests were negative, ignored my back pain and told me to follow up with my general practitioner. Of course if I could have gotten an appointment with my regular doctor, I wouldn't have been there in the first place. Robbie is arrogant, condescending and rude. She has no bedside manner and no compassion for her patients. Not even sure why she chose this profession, because it isn't to help anyone or actually listen to their concerns. So, here I am left with a bill for nothing, still in miserable pain, now missing work and waiting for my doctor's appointment so I can actually get some relief. Don't waste your time here, especially if Robbie is working, she will make you feel like an idiot and dismiss you abruptly.
Do. Not. Go. Here.
THEIR 1ST MOTTO = THAT THEY DO NOT SACRIFICE GREAT PATIENT CARE. We give them 0/5 stars - This is completely false. Their patient care was the worst we have ever experienced compared to many other urgent cares around prosper, Frisco, Celina and McKinney. When the provider, Brittany (if that even was her real name) finally came in after we had been waiting for more than 1 hour, she spent at most 5 mins with us and then said we were done. The tech, Halie spent more time with us than the provider did and she had more patient care than the provider, Brittany gave us. Brittany was cold, unwelcoming and seemed like she could care less about your illness. She didn’t provide us any updates on the results of the tests until we asked about it. And most importantly, Brittany did not provide us with an answer on what our illness was and what the medication she was going to prescribe would help. She clearly was not happy doing her job.
2ND MOTTO = THEY DO NOT SACRIFICE GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE FOR A SPEEDY VISIT. We give them another 0/5 stars. Zero for no customer service from the provider, Brittany.
3RD MOTTO = A SPEEDY VISIT - ANOTHER 0/5 stars for the long wait. It was NOT a speedy visit like they advertise and that the average wait time + visit time is 30 minutes or less. This is completely FALSE.
In conclusion, there are so many urgent cares in North Dallas Texas that actually do get you seen faster, getting you in & out in less time with amazing customer service and staff (including the provider). It’s our fault for wanting to try a different urgent care that was closer to us. We have learned our lesson and will NEVER be taking our business to Any COMMUNITY MED URGENT CARE in NORTH Texas. We will take all our urgent care visits to TEXAS HEALTH BREEZE URGENT CARE. We will not recommend Community Med Urgent Care Prosper to all our friends and family and share with them the unprofessionalism and lack of care we received from them.
