FAQs
How do weight loss injections help with weight management?
Our compounded weight loss injections work by slowing digestion, reducing cravings, and helping you feel full longer. This leads to decreased calorie intake and sustainable weight loss over time.
How are the injections given?
Once weekly as a subcutaneous injection in the abdomen, inner thigh, or upper arm.
How soon will I see results?
Many patients notice reduced appetite within the first few weeks, with steady weight loss occurring over several months. Results vary depending on lifestyle habits and dosage adjustments.
Do I need to change my diet or exercise routine?
While weight loss injections help with weight management, combining them with healthy eating and physical activity can enhance and sustain long-term results. Our providers can offer personalized guidance.
Are there any side effects?
Some patients experience mild nausea, digestive discomfort, or fatigue, which often improve over time. Our medical team will monitor your response and adjust treatment as needed.
What should I do if I experience side effects like nausea, diarrhea, or headaches?
If you experience common side effects, here are some helpful tips:
Nausea & Vomiting – Eat small meals, avoid greasy foods, and stay hydrated. You can try Dramamine, Emetrol, or Pepto-Bismol.
Diarrhea – Drink fluids, follow the BRAT diet, and use Imodium if needed.
Constipation – Increase water and fiber intake. Consider using Colace, Miralax, or Metamucil.
Abdominal Pain – Apply a warm compress or use Gas-X for bloating and TUMS for acid discomfort.
Headache – Stay hydrated and try Tylenol or Advil.
If symptoms persist, please consult your provider for further guidance.
Does insurance cover the weight loss program?
At this time, a $250 consultation fee is required upfront for the weight loss program, regardless of insurance coverage. We can bill your insurance in addition to our self-pay price for the annual physical. If your insurance provides coverage, we will apply a credit to your account that can be used toward future visits or weight loss prescriptions. However, the $250 consultation fee must still be paid at the time of your visit.
What is evaluated during the adult physical?
Before starting treatment, our providers conduct a comprehensive wellness physical to ensure the medication is safe and appropriate for you. This includes:
- Review of medical history – Pre-existing conditions, medications, and past treatments
- Vital signs check – Blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, and oxygen levels
- Weight and BMI assessment – Identifying potential risk factors for obesity-related conditions
- Lab work – Blood tests to evaluate blood sugar levels, kidney function, cholesterol, and overall health
- Discussion of lifestyle factors – Nutrition, exercise, sleep patterns, and stress management
- Screening for contraindications – Ensuring no conditions that may make weight loss medications unsafe
Are compounded weight loss medications still available?
The FDA has suggested that compounding pharmacies stop making certain weight loss medications due to changes in drug availability. We are following the guidelines set by our partner pharmacy regarding these updates. Rest assured, we are closely monitoring the situation and working together to explore all available options for our patients.
